Our Quail Hunt

Why have your Quail Hunt at Shamrock Safaris?
  • Unlike much of the central part of the United States, Shamrock Safaris local environment has a THRIVING quail population 
  • All hunting is done in feeding areas. 
  • Available feed includes fields of Millet, Winter Wheat, and Sunflower Seeds, all planted specifically for feed purposes.  (Sunflowers are knocked down to put the seeds at feeding level for the birds, and to free the seeds.) 
  • Use our dogs or, if you wish, you may bring your own.  (Kennels with dog runs are available as part of our accomodations, at no extra charge.)

 The Details:
  • Bag Limit:  15 Birds per day.  Possession Limit: 45 Birds
  • Licensing...  All hunters must be licensed  throughthe Texas Dept. of Parks and Wildlife.  Your  application for a hunt at Shamrock Safaris contains all information needed for us to get your license for you.  Just let us know, or you can arrange it yourself from the number above.  (Non-residents under 17 years of age are designated as residents for hunting license purposes.) 
  • All hunters born after 1-1-71 MUST have a valid hunter safety certificate.  

 What you Get...Your Hunt:

  • Day 1 (Not included in Hunt Cost):  Arrival.  You may either drive in or Shamrock Safaris is an easy drive from Amarillo International Airport.  If you choose to fly in, rental cars are available at the airport or we offer limousine pickups.  (Call for details).  That evening, enjoy a hearty, home cooked dinner, as part of your package.
  • Days 2, 3, 4 (or more, if you wish):  Wake before daybreak to a hearty breakfast buffet, then free transportation to the hunting areas.  Hunt as long as you wish (Be sure to pack a lunch.)  At the end of your day, it's back to the lodge for a home cooked dinner.  After that, you can enjoy satellite TV in our common area and share the day's stories with your friends, old and new.
  • Last day:  All good things must come to an end, and so does a Shamrock Safaris Hunt.  You may either leave after hunting or you may stay over and leave in the morning.  Again, limo service is available to Amarillo International Airport.
